Wierdijk
Wierdijk reuses landscape, continuity and change. The name 'wierdijk' refers to a dike made from seaweed. The assignment was to develop a proposal for the restoration and preservation of the Wierdijk. The Wierdijk is the manifestation of centuries of change, so what does today's required adaptation look like? How can further decline be prevented and the dike retain its unique profile?
The dike is the result of centuries of social dynamics on the island of Wieringen, so the proposal for its restoration was based on this. We studied the dike, the island and the polders surrounding it and made a proposal for a method that connects the island with the polder. Design and methodology as one entity: 'DE WIERDIJK, work in progress'
From 2009 to 2010 in Wieringen, the Netherlands. With Irene Fortuyn, Arjan Karssen, Arno Vriends, Seton Beggs, Minja Schotel, Marco Sweering, Thijs Verbeek, Polle Willemsen. For Kunst en Cultuur Noord-Holland, BMC consultancy and the Province of Noord-Holland.

Baked Land
Baked Land started in 2005 as an art project. Polder Oudeland, in Berkel en Rodenrijs, was set to be repurposed as a business park after centuries of being an agricultural polder. The question to the artist was to keep the demarcation line in the landscape, where clay and peat meet, visible in the future.
This question, to presere a geological phenomenon from times long before human habitation, prompted us to work with the slow and rapid of the landscape. A central character was farmer Koot, resident of the Van Oldenbarnevelthoeve, who, like his ancestors, worked the land for decades and kept cows there. Boer Koot's haystack was converted into a studio by KETTER&Co and from there the team worked on future scenarios for the area which took unexpected turn due to current economic and social developments.

Pixel graffiti
Design for a fence around the stands and two and a half football fields in the middle of a residential area in Bos en Lommer. The challenge was to combine the need for a fence with the experience of it in a residential area. A graffiti workshop was organised for the youth players of the VVA Spartaan football club and other young people from Bos en Lommer, in which professional graffiti artists shared the art of making expressive tags. The tags made by attendees of this workshop were translated into pixels and clicked into the fences around the fields as plastic pixels specially developed for this project. From the Amsterdam-Schiphol train the work can be seen on the left, just after Sloterdijk station.
From 2003 – 2010 in Bos en Lommer, Amsterdam, with Irene Fortuyn, Arjan Karssen, young people from Bos en Lommer, Seton Beggs, Ine Mulder, Steven van Lummel. For VVA Spartaan and Amsterdam Fund for the Arts.

Dike construction kit
The dike construction kit tells the story of North Holland's dikes. The blue packaging of the box contain words referring to the construction of a dike on one side and the names of archetypal dikes in North Holland on the other. In the box are various blocks with which all dike types in North Holland can be built. The dike construction kit is a promotional gift for the Province of North Holland.
Produced in 2010 with Irene Fortuyn, Arjan Karssen, Arno Vriends for the province of North Holland.
